For me, designing a book brings together all aspects of the craft of graphic design. The book - a product - needs branding and packaging, reflecting it's content whilst appealing to its intended market. Inside, the design considers how the book is to be used. Illustrations are commissioned and photographs selected and edited. Details such as binding, endpapers, dust jacket and bookmarks are all considered for inclusion and designed to suit the holistic whole, creating a desirable piece of work designed to sell, delight and take pride of place on the bookshelf.
